Wow… it’s been a week already since we packed up and moved to Charleston.
This is one of those weird times in life where I’m not sure how to act… you pray for something for what seems like such a long time, and then God answers… and you’re stunned. It doesn’t seem to matter that all of the evidence confirms that the prayer has indeed been answered… there is still some level of disbelief.
There is a great passage of scripture in the book of Mark (9: 14-29) where Jesus helps a boy dealing with an evil spirit… the boy’s father is desperate for help and asks Jesus to “do something, if you can“. Jesus gives an amazing answer, and it seems, with a little note of “are you kidding me?”
“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” (v. 23)
Verse 24 is me… The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
God, I do believe, yet I still doubt… please, help me overcome my unbelief.
